Derivatives trading in Vietnam is regulated in detail in Decree No. 51/2018/ND-CP, under the management of the Vietnam Commodity Exchange - the only national derivatives trading market organization in Vietnam currently licensed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade under License No. 4596/GP-BCT dated September 1, 2010. SFVN is an official Business Member of the Vietnam Commodity Exchange from June 29, 2022 under Decision No. 459/QD/TGĐ-MXV.

SFVN has registered and been approved to trade all types of contracts and commodities available on the Vietnam Commodity Exchange, including conditional commodities such as: WTI Crude Oil, Brent Crude Oil, Raw Rice, etc. The two types of contracts currently traded at MXV are Futures Contracts, also known as Standard Term Contracts, and Options Contracts.

Commodity derivatives trading is the form of buying and selling commodity derivative contracts with volume and price determined at the present time and delivered in the future through the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV). Buyers and sellers both expect the commodity price to reach the price they desire when entering into the contract. Currently, MXV has not implemented physical commodity delivery, so contracts must close open positions before the expiration date.
